The cultural adaptability of the expatriate is one of the major conditions of success of the expatriation. For the selection of your future expatriates we suggest the following two-step procedure:

  • A written assessment with the candidates and their spouses, first general interpretation of the results
  • Personal interviews and final interpretation of the results

Objectives of our assistance

Management Mobility Consulting assists in the assessment of the cultural adaptability of the candidates within your company. The main objective is to select those candidates who do not only offer the required professional background but also the necessary cultural adaptability.

This approach aims at increasing the success of the relocation and reducing bad investments for your company due to cross-cultural difficulties of your expatriate managers.

Contents and methodology of our approach

As a first step of assessment of future expatriates, we use the "Overseas Assignment Inventory" Evaluation (OAI), developed by our American partner company and tested over almost 30 years in the assessment of the cultural adaptability of expatriates.

The results are evaluated according to a data base comprising the OAI replies of more than 4,000 expatriates.

The next step consists in a personal interview with the candidates to verify the results of the written test. This is done according to a methodology developed in the United States and adapted to the cultural values in Europe. The results will be discussed with the person in charge of the expatriation in your company, then assessed and summarized in our final report.
